Deirdre Larkin, Employment Facilitator

Deirdre joined EmployAbility Clare in 2002 and played a significant role in developing the service and the improvement of good practice from the outset. In 2007 she took on the role of employment specialist on the ‘Career Link 2007’ pilot project supporting clients through training, career planning and their subsequent employment.

Prior to joining EmployAbility she worked as Development Officer with the VEC Adult Literacy programme.

Trained as an Holistic Therapist (ITEC, Cert Counselling NUI, Cert Psychology NUI) she ran her own business for 10 years, running a therapy centre, production unit and retail outlet.

Deirdre believes that her own employment history gives her an understanding of the need to change career direction at different stages according to life circumstances. She recognises the individual’s ability and encourages the flexibility needed to explore all the options, widening the parameters to encompass a creative approach to fulfilling the individual’s potential.

Deirdre likes to paint and enjoys outdoor activities, walking, swimming and gardening. She partakes in singing workshops on a regular basis as she finds it ‘good for the soul’
