Helen joined EmployAbility Clare in December 2013. Previously, she led a self-employment programme, Let’s Get Started, for people with disabilities and illness, supported by Brothers of Charity Clare. Helen’s career has focused on community development, social inclusion, social research, strategic planning and programme management. Helen has worked in several third level institutions – DCU, UL and DIT and is very involved in developing university-community partnerships. A believer in lifelong learning, Helen is completing a Diploma in social enterprise and community development practice with UCC. She holds a PhD in Community Informatics and MA in Women’s Studies from UL, a BSc Management from TCD and H.Dip Hotel & Catering Management from DIT. To relax, Helen enjoys quilt making, and photography. She is working on an ambitious creative project – exploring the ‘fabric of community’ in County Clare through images, text and textile design.
